VISION
Through the Road to the National School Golf Championships, The Bahamas will have a feeder system for junior golfers to compete for their schools at a level on par with elementary schools and high schools in the U.S. and around the world. This will be accomplished through the Interschool Golf Program.
The Interschool Golf Program is a collaborative effort between The Ministry of Education, The Ministry of Sports, The Bahamas Golf Federation and Fourteen Clubs Golf Academy to introduce school age children across the country to the game of golf and the valuable life skills it teaches. The children will have the opportunity to represent their schools on the golf team.
How will we achieve this?
1. Add golf to The Ministry of Education Curriculum
- Golf has been added to the Ministry of Education curriculum for 2021.
- Golf will be taught during the Physical Education classes at school.
- Students will learn putting, chipping, pitching, and full swing based on the philosophies of Fourteen Clubs Golf Academy
2. Host a National Golf Championships
- Each school will have five golfers per possible age division:
- Junior Boys
- Junior Girls
- Senior Boys
- Senior Girls
- Primary Schools Grades 4-6 (Students in Grades 3 can compete with permission from their PE teacher)
